Color Palettes

One of the most common questions my clients ask me is, "What should I wear for my family photos?" When styling a family, I like to share color palettes with them. This helps them easily see how each of their outfits will look together. I like to choose a few bold colors and pair them with neutral colors. Using this strategy will give balance and harmony to your desired aesthetic.

What to Avoid

1

Logos & Words

Shirts with logos and words are fun, but they are distracting in photos. Choose a shirt that is either one solid color, or with a simple design such as plaid, stripes, or small dots.

2

Neon Colors

Lets just face it, neon isn't anyone's color! Please just don't wear it. Bright colors and neon colors are not the same thing though. If you want bright, go bright! Bright colors are beautiful!

Matching Outfits

In some cases, matching outfits do work! But if your group is bigger than 3 or more people, it is best to not all look exactly alike. Mixing colors and neutrals are much more appealing.
